April Update on the Falling Leaves Foundation Medical Innovation Building Construction

The Falling Leaves Foundation Medical Innovation Building continues to make significant progress. Interior work has advanced considerably, with drywall installation now complete through Level 6. A major milestone has been reached with the completion of epoxy flooring throughout the building, providing a durable and clean surface for laboratory and research spaces. Ceiling installation is currently underway, marking another step towards finalizing the interior spaces. Equipment and the HVAC system are being prepared for start-up, signaling the approach of the operational phase of the project. Exterior work is also progressing well. Site concrete work and planter walls are now complete, with landscaping in progress. Civil concrete work has been finished, and asphalt paving is currently underway on the east side of the site. The Falling Leaves Foundation Medical Innovation Building will be a vibrant research facility where brilliant scientists collaborate to address healthcare’s most challenging problems, leading to unprecedented discoveries. Scheduled to open in May 2025, it will be one of the largest interdisciplinary research hubs on the West Coast, focused on project-driven medical innovation. Empowered by UC Irvine’s One Health alliance, the building will unite talent from various health disciplines and attract new recruits from around the globe.
